FC America U15 Omni Boys Win the Tournament Championship at the Red Diamond Vulcan Cup in Birmingham, AL

 

March 6, 2008 ... The FC America U15 boys, coached by Scott Betsinger, won the Bronze Division Championship at the Vulcan Cup over the weekend of March 1st and 2nd.

The team played outstanding soccer in group play as they shutout all 3 opponents while scoring a total of 11 goals to place first and advance to the championship game. The opponents in group play were GFC Elite from Georgia, FC Pride Premier from Indiana and Ohio Galaxies Premier.

The championship game was played against the IPSC Force from Indiana. The FCA team came out determined in the final and dominated play for most of the first half but were unable to convert their scoring opportunities.  The IPSC Force converted a missed clearing attempt in front of the goal which led to a score. 

Down 0-1 starting the second half, the FCA team came out determined once again and converted two scoring opportunities into goals within a 10 minute span to take a 2-1 lead. With 5 minutes remaining in the game the team scored the final goal and sealed the victory to capture the championship game 3-1.
