FC America Kumba U18 Girls Team Wins the Disney Soccer Showcase Copa Championship!!!!

January 8, 2007 ... Disney magic was sprinkled on the U18 and U17 Kumba players like pixie dust as the team made a magical run to the championship. The team played with unrelenting determination to prove that they belonged in the number one college showcase tournament in the country. They won games coming from behind and in overtime. Most of the girls who played had already played in the Orange Classic Showcase in South Florida December 27th through December 29th.  The players then drove to Disney from South Florida on December 30th  to play their first game. Falling behind early in the first game 0-2, the magic started as they rallied for two goals to earn a tie against a good Colorado team. The second game was a hard fought 0-0 tie against a very good team from the State of Washington.  They needed to win the last pool game against a team from New York and win by enough goals to finish first in their group and they did!! The semi-final game was outstanding as the team rallied from behind to send the game into overtime against the Albertson Fury, a New York team. In the second overtime period, the team scored on an outstanding combination play and great goal that lifted them into the final against the Greater Boston Bolts from Massachusetts. Unbelievably, the magic continued as the team won the final 1-0 for the Disney Soccer Showcase Championship.
