U-14 Boys Capture Fifth Tournament Championship of the Season While Repeating at the 2006 Palm Bay Spring Challenge

May 9, 2006... The FC America 92’ Boys completed an impressive 2005-2006 tournament season by repeating as Champions of the 9th Annual Palm Bay Spring Challenge, defeating the Satellite Beach Lightening 4-0 in a dominating Sunday afternoon final.

The boys opened the event with a solid 3-2 win against the Plantation Eagles, and followed that up Saturday afternoon with a hard fought 0-0 draw against the Rockledge Steelers.

Sunday morning found us pre-determined to go back to back with Satellite Beach, and in game one we played a very slow paced, non-attacking style for sixty minutes, largely to conserve energy, but still managed a 2-1 victory. The Final found us controlling the run of play, but inexplicably missing at least five easy goal opportunities.  We finally got the go-ahead goal at the 45 minute mark, when Eli’s hard shot took a slight deflection and beat the keeper. We went up 2-0 five minutes later when John Labrador put back a corner kick deflection from the top of the box. Satellite pushed an extra man forward with about ten minutes to go, and we got two quick goals in transition to close out the game, one from Eli and one from Pípe. Defensively, Erick and Pípe held us together tightly thru the center of the back, and Alex Bisbee and Mitch Hanley gave us solid play in the central mid field and forward positions as well.

Congratulations to the FC America 92’ – Will Bates, Eli Beates, Alex Bisbee, Luke Davis, Pedro D’Avila, Juan Duarte, Erick Hamann, Mitch Hanley, Pípe Jara, Josh Jacobson, John Labrador, Charlie Munoz, and Billy Voecks.
