America U13 Boys Reach Final in the US Club Region C Championship
July 3, 2006... The FCA U13 boys traveled to Jacksonville to participate in the US Club Region C Championship for a shot a playing for the National Championship. The team started out slow against a good team from Charlotte but was able to get it together in the second half and fight back from a one goal deficit to win the game 3-1. The second game was against a team from Memphis and the team seemed very comfortable in rolling to a 5-1 win. The third game was against First Coast from Jacksonville. The game was very close but the team was in control of its destiny as it worked hard for 1-0 victory. That win placed the team first in its group and the right to play in the final for the championship. The opponent was CASL Elite, the number 1 team in the country and winner of the US Club National Championship last year. The first half had CASL Elite in control as they jumped out to a 2-0 half time lead. The FCA boys came out flying in the second half as they looked for goals to get back into the game. Opportunties were not converted until about 5 minutes left in the game when the team finally scored its first goal and cut the lead to 2-1. Coach Betsinger made the decision to bring most players forward to get the equalizer. There were some good chances but the team ran out of time as CASL Elite scored with 10 seconds left for a 3-1 victory. The team is still hoping for a wildcard bid to go to the Nationals.
