Greetings!

Hello, FC America Players, Parents, Team Managers and Coaches. We are starting a new communication program to keep all club members informed of club activities, team and player successes, tournaments and general information.

On the home page of the FC America website, you can now access the vision, mission and commitment statements of the club. I encourage all to read this. As you know, FC America has always represented being a premier club for serious players which continues stronger than ever today. In addition, we are very committed to developing a competitive program for players and parents who want good training in a premier club environment. This developing program is now gaining momentum and the club has teams who are now Region Cup teams in various age groups to go along with our State Cup teams. We are very excited about this program and our Directors of Coaching, George Sasvari (girls) and Scott Betsinger (boys) believe this is a wonderful opportunity for the competitive player.

This time of year, multiple rumors start floating around about club mergers, teams/coaches moving and players coming and leaving etc. At the present time, FC America is not in any active merger discussion with any club. We are committed to building the best premier and competitive programs possible for our u9 to u18 boys and girls teams. Sometime in the near future FC America will have discussions about how to build a recreation program to feed the premier and competitive levels. This will provide the metro Orlando area with the best option for recreation, competitive and premier soccer.

The week of June 12th is the earliest date for the club to hold tryouts. The FYSA State Cup tournament does not conclude until June 11th. We will have the details posted soon on the website as to the times and days for each boys and girls age group. I also want to remind the parents and the players that you are the best advertising vehicle for the club. The more you talk about your positive experience as a parent and a player to those who ask about FC America, the greater number of parents and players who will be attracted to our club.

This is also the time of year to begin thinking about tournaments for next season. The Disney showcase qualifier, Labor Day weekend, is open for registration. You need to start thinking about showcase type tournaments at the u13 age group and above. If you get into some of these tournaments at an early age group and perform well, the better chance of being accepted when your team needs to showcase players for college. We will begin to publish tournaments in the coming months for teams to consider.

The following segment is from the Joey Uvalle website: Joey Uvalle is a handsome, active 19-year-old college student. The son of Victor and Teri Uvalle, Joey is the loving big brother to his four younger sisters. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School and graduated with honors from Bishop Moore Catholic High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, the Hispanic Honor Society, Civitan, and the Boys Soccer Team. He is currently a second year college student at Florida State University where he is a member of the Men’s Soccer Team and Phi ETA Sigma Honor Society. On February 18, 2006, Joey suffered a tragic fall that resulted in a catastrophic spinal cord injury and he is currently paralyzed. He is undergoing intense physical rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Although Joey is insured, the company has denied coverage for Joey’s treatment at the Shepherd Center despite several appeals. When he was in kindergarten, Joey was introduced to and fell in love with the game of soccer. He played with the Catholic Youth League ,then through high school, where he also played with FC America in Orlando, Florida. Joey is a strong athlete who knows how to train both mentally and physically for the challenges he now faces. His strong belief in God, supportive family and friends, and tremendous determination will guide him through his journey toward recovery. Joey's attitude is great...he has a soccer poster that his sisters helped place on his ceiling that reads: "Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact...it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing." *******1st Annual Joey Uvalle Soccer Classic - May 7, 2006******* 3 v 3 soccer format - Minimum 2 game Guarantee - Entry Deadline May 1st, 2006 Visit> http://jusc.mooo.com >click on events to get an application form. I look forward to seeing all of you at the practices, at the games and at the tryouts. We will continue our best to improve the club and offer the best in training and coaching for player development. Your input and suggestions are always welcome!! Good luck to all of our State Cup teams in the second round, May 13th and 14th. We hope to see all teams in the Challenge Round of 16, Memorial Day weekend.
